The standard reducing-balance EMI formula uses the monthly interest rate and the number of monthly installments:

EMI = P × r × (1 + r)ⁿ / [(1 + r)ⁿ − 1]

Here, P is the principal, r is the monthly interest rate, and n is the number of monthly payments. If the annual interest rate is zero, the monthly installment equals the principal divided by the number of months.
